Terms of use
Last updated November 5, 2026
These terms cover your use of the Home-Keeper app and website. By creating an account you agree to them and to our privacy policy.
General information only, not professional advice
Everything in Home-Keeper is general information to help you keep track of home upkeep. That includes task lists, schedules and due dates, reminders and their timing, climate- and weather-based suggestions, tips, “why it matters” notes, tool lists, time and difficulty estimates, safety notes, how-to videos, answers from the task assistant, label scans, appliance ages, lifespan and cost estimates, reports, and freeze alerts (together, the “Content”).
- The Content is not a home inspection and is not professional, engineering, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, legal, insurance or financial advice. It isn't based on an inspection of your home and may not fit your house, equipment, climate or local codes.
- Schedules and intervals are general suggestions. Your manufacturers' instructions, warranty terms, a professional's advice and local codes come first. Following the schedule, or finishing every task, doesn't mean your home is safe, up to code or free of problems.
- The task assistant uses AI and can be wrong or incomplete. Label scans can misread numbers. Age, lifespan and cost figures are estimates. Freeze alerts depend on the National Weather Service and may be late, wrong or missing. Reminders can be delayed or not delivered.
Videos and other people's content
How-to videos are made by independent creators and provided by YouTube through the YouTube API Services. We don't create, control or verify them. Showing a video, or marking it as checked, is not an endorsement and is not a promise that it's accurate, safe, current, or right for your home or equipment. By watching videos in Home-Keeper you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.
You're responsible for the work
You decide whether, when and how to do any task, and whether to hire someone. Home maintenance and repairs carry real risks, including injury, fire, flooding, gas leaks, electrical shock, falls, property damage and voided warranties. You take on those risks when you do or skip a task, whether or not you used Home-Keeper. For gas, electrical, roof, structural and other risky work, or anything that needs a permit, hire a licensed professional. Follow manufacturers' instructions and local codes. If something seems unsafe, stop.
Plans and payment
- New households get a 14-day free trial of the full plan. No card is needed.
- The full plan costs $45 a year or $4.99 a month and renews automatically until you cancel. Prices may change; we'll tell you before a change affects you.
- Founding price: for a limited time we may offer the yearly plan at a lower founding price (currently $34.99 a year). If you subscribe at that price, it applies at every renewal for as long as your subscription stays active. If your subscription ends and you subscribe again later, the price at that time applies. We decide when the founding offer ends.
- Subscriptions bought in the app are billed and managed by Apple or Google under their terms; cancel in your phone's settings. Website subscriptions are billed by Stripe; cancel from your account page. Refunds follow the store's or the law's rules.
- If your plan ends, your information stays saved and you keep the free plan's reminders.
- Referrals (“Give a month, get a month”): a new household that enters a friend's code before its first subscription gets 30 extra days of the full plan. The friend who shared the code earns a free month once the new household has paid for 30 days and is still subscribed, up to 12 months a year. For App Store, Google Play or website subscribers the month is applied as a credit or free period on a future bill. Free months have no cash value and can't be transferred. We may end or change the program, and remove rewards earned by fake or duplicate accounts.
Your account and content
Keep your password safe; you're responsible for activity on your account. What you add (photos, receipts, notes) stays yours. You let us store and process it only to run the app for you. Don't upload anything illegal or that you don't have the right to share.
Ending things
You can delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend accounts that misuse the service. If we ever shut Home-Keeper down, we'll give you notice and a way to export your data.
No warranties
Home-Keeper and the Content are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness and non-infringement. We don't promise the app will be uninterrupted, error-free or that any reminder or alert will arrive on time.
Limits on our responsibility
To the fullest extent the law allows, Home-Keeper and its owners, employees and partners are not liable for:
- injury, illness, death, or damage to your home, belongings or anyone else's property, including from water, fire, gas, electricity, mold, pests, freezing or falls;
- repair, replacement or professional costs, lost or voided warranties, insurance denials, or lower home value;
- anything arising from using or relying on the Content: following or not following a schedule, reminder, tip, safety note, video or assistant answer; a reminder or alert that was late, missing or wrong; or a misread label or estimate;
- third-party content and services, including YouTube videos and the work of any professional you hire;
- any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages.
If we are found liable anyway, our total liability for all claims is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $50. Some states don't allow certain of these limits; there, they apply to the fullest extent that state allows.
Your promise to us
You agree to defend and hold harmless Home-Keeper and its owners, employees and partners from claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) that come from work you do or hire someone to do on your property, your use of the app, or your breaking these terms.
